Dear .................. ,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to you in the response of your recent advertisement, which mentioned that you are in the search for a Spanish Language tutor for your childern. I am quite interest in this job.

My journey of five years spent in Spain made me fluent in Spanish. Being a resident for the country itself, I am well aware of their actual pronuciations. I could be the best match because of the personal experience.

Apart for teaching Spanish, I can also assist your children in Maths. I am a Maths teacher in a rpivate school; hence, I can also help in that.

Stating the reasons for the job, I am looking for a part-job and this can be the best suitable for me.

I would like to hear from you.

Your faithfully,

Manni

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address all three requested points: you explain your Spanish experience, offer help with Maths, and give a reason for applying. The five years spent in Spain and your work as a Maths teacher are relevant details. However, these points are only briefly stated, so the couple learns little about how you would teach the children or what other practical help you could provide. Your reason—wanting a part-time job—is also quite general. The letter contains 137 words, so it does not meet the 150-word minimum. Develop each point with a specific example, such as how you would make lessons engaging or what family tasks you could assist with, and explain why this particular opportunity appeals to you.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, separate paragraphs for your suitability and additional help, a reason for applying, and a closing. This makes the main points easy to locate. You also use basic links such as “hence” and “Apart from,” and the progression from teaching Spanish to offering Maths support is logical. To make the organisation more polished, connect ideas within paragraphs more smoothly and avoid the abrupt transition “Stating the reasons for the job.” A more natural transition could introduce your motivation directly. The closing is also very brief; a conventional sign-off and a sentence expressing interest in an interview would give the letter a more complete finish.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main message, with relevant terms such as “Spanish Language tutor,” “fluent,” “pronunciations,” and “Maths teacher.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, including “recent advertisement” and “personal experience.” However, several word-choice and spelling problems make the language less natural, for example “in the response of,” “in the search for,” “quite interest,” and “best suitable.” “Childern,” “pronuciations,” and “rpivate” are spelling errors. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than formal-sounding phrases that do not fit. Proofreading carefully and using straightforward expressions such as “I am applying for” and “I would be well suited” would improve clarity and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some longer structures, including “Being a resident …, I am well aware…” and the sentence joined with “hence.” The main message remains understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms are noticeable. For example, “I am quite interest in this job” needs an adjective form, while “Apart for teaching Spanish” uses an incorrect preposition. The opening sentence is also awkwardly constructed, and “Your faithfully” does not use the correct form for a formal sign-off. Practise accurate patterns such as “I am interested in,” “Apart from teaching,” and “Yours faithfully.” More controlled complex sentences, checked for articles, prepositions, and agreement, would strengthen the letter.
