Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Vyas,

I hope you are doing well, I saw the advertisement on a social media platform and I was quite interested to teach my language to your toddlers. Actually, I have worked for THL institute, where I have gained almost 3 years of experience. Basically, we have to teach our language "Gujarati" to the childrens from basic to advance including the grammer to strengthen the language. However, with this experience now I have conquered my skills and love towards children also helps me to stay conected to this profession. Moreover, I also teach your children some basic skills such as time management, financing, behaviour skills and many more which can be helpful for them in near future. Luckily, I have my friend's appartment there, so I can come to your country and teach them our language with the minimum wage salary or if you want me to come to your place than do let me know. Hoping for a positive response from your side.

Yours faithfully,

Vraj Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you describe your teaching experience, offer additional help with skills such as time management, and explain that you are interested in teaching Gujarati. The reference to three years at an institute gives your suitability some relevant support. However, some points are less fully developed: explain more specifically how your teaching experience would benefit these particular children, and give a clearer personal reason for wanting the position. The offer to work for a “minimum wage salary” is also unclear and may not communicate the arrangement you intend. Overall, the letter is relevant and covers the task, but several ideas need clearer explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The ideas follow a generally sensible order, moving from your interest and experience to extra help and practical arrangements. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “However” show an attempt to connect points. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the different purposes of the letter are not clearly separated. Some transitions are also mechanical or do not express the intended relationship: “However” does not clearly contrast with the previous sentence, and “Luckily” introduces the accommodation detail abruptly. Use two or three short paragraphs and connect each idea more precisely. This would make the progression easier to follow and reduce the impression of a list of points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “experience,” “time management,” and “behaviour skills,” and the reader can understand your main message. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision, such as “conquered my skills,” “stay conected to this profession,” and “minimum wage salary.” “Toddlers” may also be too specific unless the children are very young. Spelling errors such as “grammer,” “childrens,” “conected,” and “appartment” are noticeable. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling: for example, say that you have “developed my teaching skills” and are “committed to working with children.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “where I have gained almost 3 years of experience” and a sentence beginning “which can be helpful.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems are present. The opening joins two independent clauses with only a comma: “I hope you are doing well, I saw the advertisement”; use a full stop or a suitable conjunction. “The childrens” has an incorrect plural form, and “if you want me to come to your place than do let me know” needs clearer conditional structure and punctuation. Break up long sentences and check agreement, articles, and clause boundaries to improve control.
