Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You begin to address the purpose by saying you saw the advertisement and are seeking the tutor position, and you give a relevant reason for your suitability: you know Hindi, Punjabi and English. However, the response is very incomplete: it does not explain what else you could do for the family or why you specifically want to teach their children, and the suitability point is not developed with examples of teaching experience or ability. The required minimum length is not met, leaving too little space to cover the three bullet points. To improve, write a complete letter that responds directly to each point and supports your claims with specific details, such as activities you could help with or how you would teach the children.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The letter has a recognisable opening and its ideas are broadly related to the advertisement, so the reader can follow the basic purpose. However, it is presented as one short paragraph, with several ideas crowded together rather than organised into a clear sequence. The transition from seeing the advertisement to seeking the job and then listing languages is abrupt, and there is no closing to complete the letter. Use separate paragraphs for your interest and suitability, what you could offer the family, and your reasons for applying. Linking phrases such as “In addition” or “I am particularly interested because” would help show how each point connects.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the central topic, including “advertisement,” “tutor,” “children,” and the names of languages. The meaning is generally understandable, but the range is narrow and some expressions are informal or do not fit a formal application letter. For example, “wanna” is conversational, while “very good about languages” and “seeking for the job” are unnatural combinations. Spelling and word-form presentation also need attention in “teache” and “Iam.” Aim for precise, natural phrases such as “fluent in several languages” and “apply for the position,” while keeping the tone polite and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to connect ideas, as in “I just wanted to tell you that…” This communicates the general message, but control is inconsistent. Examples include “I knows,” where the verb does not agree with its subject, and “you need a tutor who teache your children,” where the verb form is incorrect. The sentence beginning “I just wanted…” also shifts awkwardly into “then i sudden saw,” making the sequence difficult to express accurately. Capitalise “I” consistently and check subject–verb agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries. Practising a mix of accurate simple and compound sentences will make the letter clearer.
