Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Amit,
I am writing this letter regarding your advertisement that I saw in the newspaper. I am very much interested in teaching Hindi language to your both children.
I am a College graduate from MDU university with Hindi as my major subject. I am well qualified and holds 10 years of language teaching experience. I have taught more than 500 students in my teaching career with high success rate.
I would be happy to give knowledge regarding basic traditions and culture which are followed in our country. This additional information would definetely help children's in learning history related to their native country.
As I recently moved in this city, I am looking for a suitable job which matches my proffessional career. The housing and living expenses are skyrocketing and making myself harder to survive in this country. As a newcomer, this opportunity will add experience to my profile and open future doors for me.
I hope you will like my recommendation and provide me prompt respnse.
Best Regards
Ankit

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: your Hindi qualification and teaching experience explain your suitability, you offer to share traditions and culture, and you give personal reasons for seeking the role. The specific evidence—being a Hindi major and having taught over 500 students—makes the application relevant and credible. The cultural contribution is less fully explained: clarify how you would introduce traditions in an age-appropriate way, rather than saying only that you would provide “basic traditions and culture.” Your reasons for wanting the job are clear, but the focus on rising expenses could be balanced with a stronger explanation of your interest in teaching the children and living with the family. A more direct, confident closing would also strengthen the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce your interest, present your qualifications, offer an additional contribution, and explain your motivation. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these separate points, and phrases such as “As I recently moved in this city” signal a shift to your reasons for applying. Some connections are less clear, however. The sentence about teaching culture and the children learning “history related to their native country” does not clearly explain how the two ideas relate. The final paragraph also moves quickly from financial pressures to career benefits. Use more explicit links between these ideas and end with a conventional request for an interview or reply to make the progression smoother and the letter more cohesive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including relevant terms such as “major subject,” “teaching experience,” and “traditions and culture.” There are also attempts at more formal or less common expressions, such as “skyrocketing” and “open future doors,” but some combinations sound unnatural or imprecise. “Give knowledge regarding” and “provide me prompt response” are not idiomatic, while “recommendation” does not accurately describe your application. Spelling errors such as “definetely,” “proffessional,” and “respnse” are noticeable and reduce the polish of the letter. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your vocabulary more effective without requiring more complicated words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, and the overall meaning is generally clear. However, some grammatical errors remain. In “I am a College graduate … and … holds 10 years,” the subject and verb do not agree; use “I … hold.” “Your both children” has incorrect word order, and “children’s” is incorrectly formed in “help children’s in learning.” The phrase “As I recently moved in this city” also needs a different grammatical construction, such as “Since I recently moved to this city.” Most sentences are understandable, but these errors show that control is not yet consistent. Review agreement, possessives and articles, and practise combining ideas accurately in complex sentences.
