Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the three requested points: you describe your teaching experience, offer babysitting and help with other subjects, and explain that you want the job to pay your mortgage. These details are relevant, but the suitability point is not fully convincing: living nearby is useful, while your experience and teaching approach need clearer explanation of how they would help these particular children learn your language. The letter also refers to teaching English, although the task asks you to teach the couple’s language, so this creates uncertainty about your fit for the role. Develop each point with a little more specific support and make your motivation sound appropriate to the family as well as to your financial needs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a generally clear sequence: you introduce yourself, explain your experience, describe additional help, and give your reason for applying. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and the reader can follow the main message. However, some transitions are abrupt, particularly the move from your teaching experience to the sentence beginning “Practising several techniques,” which is not clearly connected to a complete main clause. The final request for a response is understandable but could be integrated more smoothly with a polite closing. Use complete sentences and link related details more naturally—for example, connect your teaching methods directly to your experience and explain how they would benefit the children.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of relevant vocabulary, including “eligible,” “part time,” “baby sit,” and “mortgage,” which allows you to communicate the main points. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the letter less clear or less professional, as in “advertisment,” “ecperience,” and “home tution.” Some expressions are also unnatural for this context, such as “in good health and spirit” and “positive response.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, especially in a formal application letter. You could also use more precise teaching vocabulary to explain your experience and methods rather than relying on general descriptions such as “polite and kind in nature.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your message is mostly conveyed through simple statements, and you attempt some longer structures, but control is uneven. The opening “Hope you are in good health and spirit” omits a subject, while “Practising several techniques to ease the English language learning” is a sentence fragment rather than a complete sentence. There are also errors in articles and possessives, for example “as a english teacher” and “three year's of ecperience,” and the sentence about helping with mathematics is awkwardly constructed. These issues can make the reader pause, even though the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Practise forming complete sentences and checking articles, verb forms, and punctuation before sending the letter.
