Student answer (Band 5.0)

Dear mam,

As you know, you advertised regarding the teacher for your two young children who can taught them your mother tongue.

Moreover,I am also a punjabi and I was punjabi teacher in secondary school in my home country so I am experinced teacher with five years of experience in punjabi language.Additionally, as your children are born and brought up in australian culture so its necessity that they should learn there mother tongue completely as you mentioned they can only speak in punjabi but are unable to write.Furthermore, as they are naive I can also teach them few religiuos lessons which are related to sikhism so that they can be a good human rather than be a zengie. Not only this, I can give them four hours daily except on weekends as I am busy on weekends.

Nonetheless, I want this job because of my love for sikhisim and aa I am also a experienced punjabi teacher. So, that is why I want you to give me this opportunity.

thanks

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the three requested points: you describe your Punjabi teaching experience, offer to teach Sikh religious lessons, and explain that you want the role because of your interest in Sikhism and teaching. These details make the letter relevant, and the reference to the children’s ability to speak but not write Punjabi gives a specific reason for lessons. However, the suitability and motivation points are only briefly explained, and the offer of four hours daily is not clearly connected to the family’s needs. The opening, “As you know,” also assumes prior knowledge rather than responding naturally to an advertisement. Develop each point with a little more explanation and make your request for the position clearer and more persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response contains relevant information and the reader can identify your experience, additional help, and reason for applying. However, it is presented largely as one long paragraph, so the three parts of the task do not stand out clearly. Linking words such as “Moreover,” “Additionally,” “Furthermore,” and “Nonetheless” are used repeatedly, sometimes where a simpler transition or a new paragraph would be more natural. The shift from teaching Punjabi to religious lessons and then to your availability could be organised more clearly. Use separate paragraphs for your suitability, other help and motivation, and connect ideas through clear references rather than relying on a sequence of linking expressions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the role, including “secondary school,” “five years of experience,” “mother tongue,” and “religious lessons.” This gives the reader a basic understanding of your background and offer. However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the letter difficult to interpret, such as “experinced,” “religiuos,” and “zengie.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “advertised regarding the teacher” and “give them four hours daily.” Choose standard, precise expressions and check spelling carefully. A wider range of natural language for describing teaching skills, childcare support, and motivation would make the letter more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences using clauses and connectors, for example the sentence beginning “Additionally, as your children are born and brought up…” This shows an effort to express connected ideas, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently. Examples include “who can taught them,” where the verb form is incorrect, and “I am also a experienced Punjabi teacher,” where the article and construction are inaccurate. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the long opening paragraph and the lower-case “thanks.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Practise accurate verb forms, articles, and sentence division, and use shorter sentences when you are unsure of a complex structure.
