Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, the trend of paying our bills or doing online shopping using our mobile phone apps is becoming increasingly common. According to me it has both advantages as well disadvantages of doing this.
One of the main advantages of mobile phone apps is it saves both time and effort as you can do any online shopping while, sitting at home. It is more convenient as people don't have to make plans and go out. It saves a lot of time. Second reason, we can set auto payments for our bills and we neither have to remember our due dates and go out every month to pay our bills.
The disadvantages that come with advantages are first all of some platforms are not secure as they fetch your data from the transactions that you do and it traps you in trouble which is one of the major drawback.
Overall, advantages overweigh the disadvantages as it is more convenient , time saving and less effort.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 163 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you have identified both advantages and disadvantages, the points are under-developed. For example, the mention of security risks is brief and lacks specific examples or a deeper explanation of how these risks manifest. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and concrete examples to fully address the prompt. Because the response is substantially under-length, the depth of the response is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'One of the main advantages', 'Second reason', and 'Overall'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the advantages and disadvantages is abrupt. The final paragraph is very brief and does not effectively synthesise the points made. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details that flow logically into one another.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on common phrases such as 'doing online shopping' and 'paying our bills'. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'transactions' and 'secure', but the range is limited. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'advantages overweigh the disadvantages' (should be 'outweigh'). To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to digital finance and security, and ensure that collocations are used accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your writing. For instance, 'According to me it has both advantages as well disadvantages' is awkward and grammatically incorrect. You also have errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'The disadvantages that come with advantages are first all of some platforms'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence structure and article usage.
