Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that mobile payments have more advantages. The ideas regarding convenience, safety, and expense tracking are relevant and supported with examples. However, the development of these points is somewhat basic. For instance, the argument about safety is a bit repetitive, and the counter-argument regarding 'shopaholics' is introduced but could be more deeply explored to show a more balanced perspective. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and contains a typo, but the overall task requirements are met with a clear position maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific point. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore' are used to link ideas, though some are used mechanically or with minor errors (e.g., 'As, a result'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, although the transition between the benefits and the counter-argument could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, but there are instances where the flow is slightly hindered by awkward phrasing or punctuation errors, which occasionally makes the reader pause.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'transactions' and 'shopaholic', but there are also frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'there' instead of 'their', 'e-transation', and 'pan and paper' instead of 'pen and paper'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on accurate spelling and more precise collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('this trend have', 'individuals donot need'), article misuse, and punctuation errors (e.g., 'after the development...'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. The student needs to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms and pluralization, to improve the overall control of the language.
