Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, smartphone are advancing a lot and assist everyone to pay online and by tapping with apps or with the help of a feature: NFC and its can be seen in numerous nation. which is increasing and adapted by masses at alerming rate. In this essay I will discuss it pros and cons in the upcoming paragraph.

To begin with, the use of physical card is reducing faster because, no one wants to take a responsibility of checking their bank card while traveling and stay in pressure about what will happen if they lost it. Furthermore, card can be used by anyone who posses it, they can pay without owner knowing and without any security. Whereas, paying through mobile apps like Samsung pay or google pay require fingerprint or facial recognition of owner without it becames near to impossible to use and steal the data of the person. for instance, I use my smartphone to pay everywhere as its easy to carry and Its a habit to check before leaving home if I am carrying my device or not. when I came to Canada I usually for forget carry my card and need to came back home from halfway and getting late for work and university and it is solved by just adding it in my device.

However, there is a big disadvantage of mobile apps, with just slight modification in device the limit of paying at single day or time can be removed. So if a person lost there device and device gets to experinced hacker they can just empty there balance and use there credit card with any problem and this was also showen by a tech youtuber as his digital card can only pay upto 2000 dollars a day he just change some codes and instantly nearly spend and transfer 10000 dollars without any restriction.

in conclusion, I believe the use of digital apps to pay have way more advantage than disadvantage because a user need to be professional to take advantage of smartphone security system Whereas a normal person cannot even use the smartphone without its password and security code without owners permission.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of mobile payment apps. You clearly state your position in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The advantage section is well-supported with a personal example, but the disadvantage section relies on a single, somewhat extreme anecdotal example regarding a 'tech youtuber' hacking a system. To improve, ensure your arguments are balanced and grounded in more general, realistic scenarios. While all parts of the task are addressed, the depth of analysis could be improved to move beyond personal experience and into broader societal implications.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'However'. However, there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing or punctuation errors, such as the run-on sentence in the introduction ('...NFC and its can be seen in numerous nation. which is increasing...'). Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, and the transition between sentences could be smoother. Improving your control over sentence boundaries and using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'facial recognition', 'digital card', and 'restriction'. However, there are frequent spelling errors ('alerming', 'experinced', 'showen') and some word choice inaccuracies ('take a responsibility of checking', 'masses at alerming rate'). These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common academic and topic-specific vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('smartphone are advancing', 'card can be used', 'its can be seen') and incorrect verb forms ('need to came back'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of periods and capitalization. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors is high enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage.
