Student answer (Band 7.0)

There is an ongoing debate about weather online payments by using smartphones are beneficial or not. This essay will examine both the advantages and disadvantages before reaching a conclusion.

One of the main advantages of using mobile phone is that users can easily track the records of the past payments. This is because when consumers access online platforms for the payments, it creates history by their names, date and time. Consequently, payment maker can easily track their spending and make plans accordingly for their future expense. Furthermore, mobile payment apps are more secure because they have biometric or face lock features, so there is less mental stress about thieves stealing valuable money.

Another reason of digital payment is that there is no ant stress to keeping cash in their purse. This is mainly because hard cash becomes hard to handle, anyone can steal a purse or people are scared of losing money. According to a report, in the last decade, after using online payment methods, mobile payers stopped complaining about losing their money significantly. Moreover, electronic payments reduce the likelihood of calculation or counting errors. This is because people may accidentally make mistakes while counting cash or calculating the total amount, particularly in busy situations. In contrast, mobile payment applications process transactions automatically, ensuring greater accuracy and minimizing the risk of human error.

In conclusion, it can be reiterated that digital mobile payments are more beneficial because they are more convenient, secure, trackable, and errorless counting of transactions. As technology continues to improve, mobile payment applications are likely to become an even more essential part of people's daily lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of mobile payments. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as biometric security and the reduction of human error in calculations. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; the points regarding security and convenience are touched upon in both body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more specific real-world examples or deeper analysis of the implications of these technologies, rather than simply listing benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', and 'in contrast' are used effectively to link ideas. Paragraphing is appropriate, with each paragraph focusing on a central theme. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions could be more sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion. The progression of ideas is clear, but the essay would benefit from a more nuanced connection between the advantages discussed.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'biometric', 'transactions', and 'minimizing the risk'. However, there are some awkward phrasings and minor errors, such as 'payment maker' instead of 'consumers' or 'payers', and 'no ant stress' which is unclear. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing when describing the benefits of the technology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'weather' instead of 'whether', 'by using smartphones' (which is slightly redundant), and 'errorless counting of transactions' which is grammatically awkward. Punctuation is generally correct, but there are minor slips in article usage and word form. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these small errors prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and word choice.
