Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of mobile payment apps and takes a clear position. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development. While the main ideas are relevant, they are not fully extended or supported with sufficient detail. The conclusion is also quite brief and repetitive. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and specific examples to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'therefore' and 'for example' at the start of sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between ideas lacks sophistication. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences and paragraphs more naturally, ensuring that the progression of your argument is logical and easy for the reader to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'payament', 'carrieng', 'difical', 'sater') and word choice issues (e.g., 'bond with busy schedules', 'comforting people lives'). These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, you should work on using more precise vocabulary related to the topic and ensure accurate spelling. Avoid repeating basic words and try to incorporate more academic or topic-specific collocations to demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'People busy with lots o f works'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'when you going to shoping'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing spaces after periods. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the high frequency of errors limits the clarity of the writing. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
