Student answer (Band 6.0)
Due to rapid advancement in technology, the pace of has increased. Modern technology has drastically change the way of living. The use of mobile with a view to paying things is increasingly becoming more common worldwide. There are pros and cons of this trend and i believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
The major advantage is saving time. In this fast pacing era, time becomes more valuable for each and every person. Individuals have become more busy and they looking for more opportunities. Youngsters have a better knowledge in latest technology and they like to save their time and do some productivity. This is because they tend to use online payment option which is not only make their work easy but also help them to process it very smooth and fast. For instance, If i go to the mall and buy something, it is easier for me to just tap and pay via mobile application and it saves my time.
However, there are also some drawbacks. One significant disadvantage is glitch in technology. As long as i am using a phone in order to pay and due to problem in app, it block my payment and they need to hold the process. There might be some possibility of loosing my money or sometimes they help me to get me a refund. For example, i am buying a cloth from Zara outlet and i tap and pay from my phone but they tell me that they did not get a payment which makes me feel bad and tensed. So, it is a major drawback of this. I strongly believe that the advantage outweigh the disadvantage.
To sum up, using a new advance technology for paying is a good way to save your important time and also make your work easy and smooth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages and clearly states a position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the advantage of saving time is mentioned, the explanation remains superficial. The disadvantage section is also underdeveloped, relying on a personal anecdote about a 'Zara outlet' rather than a broader discussion of security or digital exclusion. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the implications of these points—for example, discussing the impact on financial security or the digital divide—rather than focusing solely on personal convenience.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The major advantage', 'However', and 'To sum up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'As long as i am using a phone in order to pay and due to problem in app'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the third paragraph where the pronoun 'they' is used inconsistently to refer to the app, the store, or the payment process. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You use basic terms like 'good way', 'make their work easy', and 'feel bad and tensed'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'fast pacing era' (should be 'fast-paced') and 'loosing' (should be 'losing'). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use less common or more sophisticated lexical items. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary related to technology and finance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'drastically change' (should be 'changed'), 'time becomes more valuable' (should be 'has become'), and 'they looking for' (should be 'they are looking for'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on proofreading for basic tense and agreement errors would significantly improve your score.
