Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many countries, people use mobile phone apps for payments. This trend is becoming increasingly common day by day. On one hand, this technology development has many advantages but it also has some drawbacks. We will discuss both in this eassy.

First of all, these days most of the people using mobile phone apps for payments . This is easy and more convenient than carring a physical cash or card all the time. People do not have to worry about lossing their vaulet with cash or cards. Moreover, these apps allow to pay for the bills from anywere on the world. For example, now you can pay your electricity or other house hold bill from your mobile phone apps on just few clicks.

On the other hand, this technology development has some disadvantages like if you lost your phone, someone can use it to hack your bank account and transfer all your money to his account. Although, these apps has a stonge password protection options to protect it from hackers or scammers but some time your single mistake can do a lot of financial damage. Moreover, some time payments with mobile phone apps does not go through due to connectivity or server problems and payment can stuck between both accounts and this issue can take couple of days to resolve and get your money back.

In my opinion, advantages of this technology overshaow its disadvantages. It makes people life easy and more convenient and allow them to travel all around the world without the tention of carring a physical money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of mobile payment apps. A clear position is established in the introduction and maintained in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the point about security risks is relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples or a deeper analysis of the societal impact. The essay meets the requirements of the prompt, but the supporting arguments lack the depth and sophistication required for a higher band score. The structure is logical, but the content remains at a surface level throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. There are also minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the lack of more varied or sophisticated cohesive links prevents the essay from reaching a higher band in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. The student uses common phrases like 'easy and more convenient' and 'financial damage'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'eassy', 'carring', 'vaulet', 'anywere', 'stonge', and 'tention', which are distracting. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the frequency of spelling mistakes indicate a need for more attention to word choice and accuracy. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to technology and finance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('these apps has', 'some time payments... does not go through') and missing articles ('a physical cash'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. The student needs to focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms and pluralization, before attempting more complex sentence structures to improve their score.
