Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is true that the uses of mobile phone apps has become the need of today’s world. There are some merits and demerits of this development that i will explain in forthcoming paragraphs and along with my personal view.

To begin with, thesedays both males and females are working in various sectors to earn the money so they do not have sufficient time to collect money from bank . As a result, they use mobile phone apps to pay the bill like, grocery bill, phone bill, and many more. Apart from that, online services are easy to use for every age group of people they do not need to wait in queue for longer time to pay any kinds of bills so it saves the precious time of people and eneras well.

Turning to other side, by using mobile apps people are becoming less active they do not go outside it makes them lazy and dull. Last year i saw a news that was telling us vast majority of people account was hacked by hackers which is not best approach to use these apps.

Conclusion, using apps for paying any bill is good thing but person should have knowledge regarding it so he or she will use it wisely without having any fraud.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. The ideas, such as convenience and security risks, are introduced but not fully developed with sufficient supporting detail or examples. The position is clear, but the lack of length prevents a more thorough exploration of the topic. To improve, you should expand on your points by providing more specific real-world examples or deeper analysis of the implications of mobile payments to meet the word count requirement and demonstrate a higher level of task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Apart from that', and 'Turning to other side'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transitions could be more sophisticated. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Last year i saw a news that was telling us...', which lacks a smooth connection to the previous point. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You use common phrases like 'need of today’s world' and 'good thing', which lack precision. There are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'eneras well' (likely a typo) and 'not best approach'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to digital finance and security, and use more precise adjectives and verbs to convey your ideas more effectively. Avoid repetitive phrasing and focus on using words that demonstrate a wider range of expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('collect money from bank'), subject-verb agreement issues ('uses of mobile phone apps has'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structure is often repetitive, and the lack of control over complex sentences occasionally hinders clarity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the correct use of articles and prepositions, and practice combining simple sentences into more complex, error-free structures to demonstrate better grammatical control.
