Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages of mobile payments, though the disadvantages are largely ignored, which limits the depth of the argument. The position is clear from the introduction, and the ideas are generally relevant. However, the development is somewhat uneven; for example, the mention of 'demonetization' is a strong point, but the explanation of how it functions is slightly unclear. To reach a higher band, you should ensure both sides of the argument are explored more thoroughly, or provide a more robust justification for why one side outweighs the other. The essay covers the requirements of the task, but the lack of balance in the discussion prevents it from being fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To sum up' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between the general argument and the example of India feels abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences are slightly repetitive in structure. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific terminology like 'demonetization', 'digital payment', and 'transactions'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'it argued that it is becoming a common' (should be 'it is becoming common') and 'a one the biggest advancement' (should be 'one of the biggest advancements'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation suggest a limited range of vocabulary for more complex or abstract discussions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('a a lot of paper work'), subject-verb agreement ('government launched'), and sentence fragments ('As, in a case demonetization...'). These errors are noticeable and occur frequently, though they do not typically impede communication. To improve, you should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles and prepositions, and work on constructing more complex sentences with greater control to avoid fragmented or run-on structures.
