Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, a significant number of people are using mobile phone apps to pay for their purchase, because it is considered as the convenient way of paying while shopping. Although paying through a phone is completely a new innovation of the technology, I believe it outweighs old payment modes such as by cash.

To begin with, paying for things using mobile phone app in getting increasingly popular among people because it provides an easy mode of payment while paying for things. Most of the people don't carry cash nowadays, instead with a simple tap they pay for their stuffs. For example, if an individual needs to buy a laptop, they do not have to carry a heavy wallet, with a simple tap using a mobile phone, payment can be done. Furthermore, online payments such as mobile tap, provides a proof of payment by maintaining transaction history in the app. This gives a better experience to buyer and shopkeeper, during return or exchange.

This new mode of payment has more advantages than disadvantages because it provides a better shopping experience with a safety and convenience. Unlike old mode of payment, when people used to struggle with carrying their wallets every time, this new mode of payment let people to keep their wallets at the home and make payments via phone. Additionally, people do not worry about keeping change with them. However, they can pay the exact amount flawlessly. As a result, the number of people using mobile for their payments has been increasingly significantly .

To conclude, paying through mobile phone apps outweighs old payment mode because it provides consumers a safe and hassle free shopping. Therefore, people do not stress themselves about carrying a wallet or keeping a change.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt by clearly stating your position that mobile payments outweigh traditional methods. The ideas are relevant, focusing on convenience and transaction history. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the benefit of 'not carrying a wallet' is mentioned in both the second and third paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more varied examples or deeper analysis of the implications, such as security concerns or the digital divide, rather than restating the same points in different ways.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'As a result' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is occasionally mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Unlike old mode of payment'. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more sophisticated progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'transaction history' and 'innovation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'paying for their stuffs' (stuff is uncountable) and 'innovation of the technology' (which is slightly awkward). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding informal phrasing. Your vocabulary is sufficient for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'it is considered as the convenient way' (should be 'a convenient way'), 'let people to keep' (should be 'let people keep'), and 'has been increasingly significantly' (should be 'has been increasing significantly'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of verb patterns and adverbial usage.
