Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's rapidly evolving world, mobile phones have become essential part of everyone lives. In many nations, paying for things through using cellphone's application is becoming increasing popular. Although this trend has some disadvantages, I believe that advantages are greater because of greater because of multiple reasons. In this essay, I will discuss both the perspectives with relevant reasons and examples.
Out of all the arguments, one of the significant benefits is using mobile application is that its convenience. That is to say, people do not have to carry cash or many bank cards with them. They can simple use their phones to pay for almost anything from groceries to restaurant bills. This is particularly useful while international travelling or people who are in a hurry. Moreover, mobile phones can save time because customers do not have to wait for cash to be counted and change to be given. For instance, in many developed nations have facilities for pay their bills in supermarkets and hotels by using mobile phone's tap, which makes whole process much faster. In addition, many payments apps use security features such as passwords, fingerprints and face recognition , which can make them safer than carrying large amount of cash.
Nevertheless, there are some drawback to this development. One of the prominent concern is the risk of fraud and hacking. If someone, phones or payment account is stolen then criminals may gain access to their money. Furthermore, everyone is not familiar with using payment application, particularly elderly people find these technology challenging. These can also be problems when there is no internet connection or when a phone battery runs out. For example, when a person travelling alone and his/her phone battery runs out, he might be face difficult situation to paying bills.
In conclusion, although mobile phone payments can create security and theft problems, I strongly believe that advantages outweigh their disadvantages. Overall, Their convenience, speed and ability to help people make them a positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as convenience and security, and are supported by examples like the use of biometric features and the challenges faced by the elderly. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the discussion on the disadvantages could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The essay maintains a consistent stance throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, fulfilling the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'Nevertheless', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the use of 'These' in the third paragraph, which lacks a clear antecedent. Despite these minor flaws, the progression of ideas is logical, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task, ensuring the overall structure remains coherent.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific terminology like 'biometric features', 'fraud', and 'hacking'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'paying for things through using cellphone's application' and 'he might be face difficult situation'. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, the lack of more sophisticated or precise vocabulary prevents a higher score. The errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('essential part of everyone lives'), pluralization ('many nations have facilities for pay their bills'), and verb forms ('he might be face difficult situation'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and unnecessary apostrophes. While the student attempts complex structures, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of full control over more complex grammar, placing the response firmly in the 6.0 band.
