Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, it has become widespread to pay everything electronically by various phone apps. This approach, indeed, has more positive aspects than negative one due to the convenience and comfort that is offered by this transition.

First of all, using mobile apps is usually considered as convenient and comfortable in this fast pace life due to the fact that it saves time and money. That means, unlike previous time when the person used to pay all the bills such as: hydro bills, water bills or phone bills by visiting in person in those offices and waiting for hours for their turn and spending hours in travelling, it is just a click away to pay all the bills without facing such inconvenices. Moreover, most of the apps also proveds some discount if the bills are paid through those apps. Hence, the invidual can have more spare time to perform other acivities if time is saved by paying online. Also their are some security and protection plans has installed to protect data.

On the other hand, it is also thought by some that being too reliable on online banking can be detrimental in many ways. First of all, there are more chances of online banking robbery, account hack and scams which can lead to disappear all the money just in seconds. Actually, some of the apps asks for the extra information in order to collect your all personal details and that information is then used to access the banking information. By doing this, one can be easily targetted by fraudulant activities. For instance, In India it is prohibited to click any random link that pops up on their phone, so that their information can be protected. Since the people, who are not aware of these fraudulent activities, are easily trapped by their scams. Therefore, online banking can have negative consequences of it. However, with full awareness this issue can be mitigated

In conclusion, although paying by online apps can be dangerous and the person without full awreness of using these apps can be robbed online, moslty today's generation use these apps in order to save time and travelling cost. Also the fraud can be avoided by be awared and using protected apps.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of bill payments versus the risks of cybercrime. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the benefits are explained well, the discussion on security could be more nuanced. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and reinforces the writer's stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that examples are integrated more smoothly into the argument rather than just being mentioned, and provide a more thorough exploration of the 'why' behind the security concerns.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though there are occasional lapses in flow, such as the transition between the security risks and the example provided. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the advantages and disadvantages, which helps the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'detrimental', 'mitigated', and 'fraudulent'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'being too reliable on' (should be 'reliant on'), 'disappear all the money' (should be 'cause all the money to disappear'), and 'be awared' (should be 'be aware'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'there are some security and protection plans has installed' (subject-verb agreement and passive voice error) and 'some of the apps asks' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with comma usage and sentence fragments. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive voice structures.
