Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding the advantages and disadvantages of paying with mobile phone apps, although the student interprets mobile phone apps broadly to mean smartphones and mobile technology in general rather than strictly mobile payment applications. The position is stated in the introduction, where the writer mentions that they will discuss both advantages and disadvantages. Ideas are presented, such as communication, entertainment, and health impacts on children, but they remain somewhat under-developed and general. For example, the argument that mobile phones reduce relationships is stated simply without deep elaboration. While the task is addressed, a more focused discussion on mobile payment apps specifically would have elevated the task response. Overall, the ideas are relevant to the broader topic of mobile technology, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay has a recognizable structure with an introduction, body paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different main ideas. However, progression and cohesion are sometimes faulty and mechanical. The writer relies on basic cohesive phrases such as 'On the one side', 'Instead of it', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences like 'It does not effect where they are' and 'It depends on it how they want to use it', where pronoun reference is ambiguous. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the frequent awkward transitions and mechanical links place this response at Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but shows limited flexibility and contains noticeable errors in word choice and spelling. Examples of spelling and usage errors include 'teachnology' instead of 'technology', 'storil' or 'storis' instead of 'stories', 'webseris' instead of 'web series', and 'effect' instead of 'affect'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'entertainment', 'purposes', and 'neglected', but the range remains basic and repetitive with frequent lexical inaccuracies that occasionally strain the reader, aligning closely with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, though control is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('all the people completely depends', 'Most of children spent'), articles ('living in abroad'), and sentence fragments or run-on structures ('Nowadays, Technology makes human life more easier as compare to past. All the people completely depends on it.'). Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, are pervasive throughout the text. While meaning is generally communicated despite these flaws, the high frequency of basic grammatical and punctuation errors restricts the score to a Band 5.0.
