Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of mobile payment apps, fulfilling the core requirements of a discussion essay. The writer presents a clear position regarding the popularity and usefulness of electronic payments while acknowledging drawbacks such as overspending and cybercrime. Ideas are supported by relevant personal context and examples, such as the mention of Paytm and Google Pay in India, as well as a personal anecdote regarding cyber fraud. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat restricted by informal phrasing, structural limitations, and a lack of fully elaborated arguments for each point. Consequently, the response aligns best with a Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptor, showing clear engagement with the task but limited depth in the extension of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

Coherence and cohesion in this response are significantly hindered by improper paragraphing, run-on sentences, and an absence of standard punctuation. The entire first half of the response is presented as a single, continuous stream of consciousness without adequate terminal punctuation. While the text attempts to use cohesive devices such as 'so', 'even though', and bullet-like formatting ('Avantage -', 'Disadvantages -', 'example -'), the overall organisation is basic and lacks smooth transitions. Paragraphing is not used effectively to separate distinct stages of the argument, which forces the reader to work harder to follow the progression of ideas. These structural deficiencies restrict the response to a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical resource displays a limited range suitable for basic communication, featuring frequent repetition of terms such as 'electronic payment', 'market', and 'easy'. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'becuase', 'carrring', 'payphone' (for PhonePe), 'populer', 'aprox', 'sellar', 'Avantage', 'pshycal', 'recard', 'finacial', 'unessary', 'wich', 'require' (required), 'ishred' (shared), 'faimily', 'sociaty', 'victam', 'recevied', and 'tallking'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the writer's basic meaning regarding mobile payments and cyber crime, the high density of lexical errors and lack of sophisticated phrasing firmly place this criterion at a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on the positive interpretation of basic communicative success.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical range and accuracy are severely limited by the absence of proper punctuation, leading to prolonged run-on sentences and a lack of clear sentence boundaries. The text relies heavily on simple coordination with conjunctions like 'and', with very few attempts at accurate complex structures. There are numerous grammatical inaccuracies, such as subject-verb agreement errors ('lot of app has been come'), missing articles ('go atm machine'), incorrect prepositions ('replace of holding'), and awkward tense usage ('has been also increase'). Due to the frequency of structural errors and the lack of basic punctuation, the response demonstrates control characteristic of a Band 4.0 descriptor.
