Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response addresses the task only minimally and tangentially. The student attempts to discuss the topic of paying with mobile apps, mentioning both advantages like 'online shopping' and disadvantages like 'fake apps' and security risks. However, the position is not always clear, and the ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on advantages is brief and repetitive, focusing mostly on general convenience rather than exploring specific economic or social impacts as prompted. Furthermore, the ideas lack sufficient extension and support from personal knowledge or experience, resulting in an incomplete exploration of whether the development has more advantages or disadvantages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout the text. While there are basic attempts to organise the writing into paragraphs, the overall progression is unclear and disjointed. The transitions between ideas feel abrupt, and the relationships between sentences are not always logical, as seen in the sudden shift from talking about credit card security to learning and earning. Cohesive devices are used very mechanically or inadequately, with repetitive phrasing such as 'By using the apps' and 'By using this latest facility'. Additionally, faulty referencing and unclear pronouns make it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's train of thought from one sentence to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing a limited range of words to express ideas. The student relies heavily on simple terms and makes frequent errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that strain the reader's understanding. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'helpup' instead of helpful, 'acess' instead of access, 'faked' instead of fake, and 'cerdit' instead of credit. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are largely unsuccessful due to incorrect collocations and forms, such as 'secure our time managment'. These persistent errors and the narrow vocabulary range prevent the response from achieving a higher level of lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple or faulty sentences. Errors are frequent and often distort the meaning, causing difficulty for the reader. There are widespread issues with basic sentence construction, verb forms, and agreement, as seen in phrases like 'mobile phone apps is becoming increasingly and are very common' and 'most of the app are faked they just want to you to install tyhe app then they runs their add'. Punctuation is also poorly handled, with missing capitalisation at the beginning of sentences and improper comma splices running thoughts together without adequate control.
