Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

Your position is clear: you believe the advantages of mobile payments outweigh the disadvantages, and you begin to explain convenience by referring to busy schedules and paying a phone bill remotely. However, the response addresses the task only minimally. The example is relevant, but the benefit is not developed beyond saving time, and no disadvantages are considered or weighed against the benefits. The introduction promises reasons and examples, but the response ends before these are provided. The required minimum length is not met, which leaves the argument substantially incomplete. To improve, develop several relevant points, explain their effects, include specific examples, and address the opposing side before reaching a supported conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic overall structure: an introduction states your view, followed by a paragraph giving a reason and an example. The example about paying a bill while working is connected to the point about convenience, so the reader can follow the main idea. However, the response stops abruptly, and there is no conclusion or progression to a second supporting point or a discussion of disadvantages. Linking expressions such as “In that case” and “For example” help signal relationships, but the sequence is limited and “besides this” introduces an idea that is not completed. Build a clear progression across complete paragraphs, with each paragraph focused on one developed point and a concluding summary.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “cellphone,” “pay,” “bills,” “busy life schedules,” and “leisure time,” and the intended meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “In my perception” and “fundamental reason,” although these expressions are not always natural in context. Noticeable spelling and word-choice problems include “schdules,” “escalate our leisure time,” and “pay their all kinds of bills.” These reduce precision and make parts of the response sound awkward. Aim for accurate, natural collocations—for example, “save time,” “make payments,” and “free up time”—and check spelling carefully. A broader range of vocabulary would also help you explain both benefits and drawbacks.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes simple statements and an attempt at a longer conditional example, showing some effort to vary sentence structure. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect fluency. Examples include “My preference will explained,” which needs a passive form (“will be explained”), and “it save most of our time,” which requires subject–verb agreement (“it saves”). The example beginning “Your phone bill is due…” shifts between clauses without clear punctuation, while “In that case a mobile phone can be a great help, because…” has unnecessary comma placement. Capitalisation is also inconsistent within sentences. Practise accurate verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and clear structure.
