Student answer (Band 6.0)

In a contemporary era, a tremendous upward growth in the technological development has been observed. Predominantly, with digitalisation policy of government a new trend is promoted which insist the user of commodity to pay the seller electronically through mobile app. In developed countries the graph of this trend is continously increasing which in itself has various positive impacts and undoubtedly some negative impacts as well.

People of this era are carrying a little world with themselves by having a smartphones in their pockets which nowadays aids in paying every single bill. From both purchaser and seller end, it is convenient as the transfer of money and its acceptance is matter of click only. Surprisingly, with a tap system the consumer only have to tap their smart phones with their machine. Over and above, the users of smart phones who have digital wallets in their phone memory are not necessarily required to have their physical debit and credit card with themselves. Sometimes evening or morning walk on the streets lead the people towards the small outlets and usually people do not carry their wallets with them during this time. But in today's time, having a smart phone with appropriate payment app can fulfill their window shopping dream.

Everything has its flip side, so does mobile payment app. Sometimes, accidently the excess amount has been transferred to the seller and if seller has auto-deposit then it would fume dispute among them. Additionally, with one click the amount could be sent to wrong address which inculcates additional psychological stress.

Overall, this is useful asset for literate users and probably not for ignorant and iliterate users. Having an entire knowledge about it's positive and negative side is crucial to serve best for everybody.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the question by presenting benefits, including convenience and not needing to carry cards, and drawbacks such as mistaken transfers. However, the task asks you to decide whether the advantages or disadvantages are greater, and your position is not consistently clear: the introduction says there are positive and negative impacts, while the conclusion calls the system useful mainly for “literate users” without directly weighing the two sides. The examples about evening walks and accidental payments are relevant, but the latter drawbacks are only briefly explained, and the conclusion introduces a distinction between literate and “ignorant” users without supporting it. State your overall judgement clearly and develop the comparison with specific explanations or examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the trend, gives advantages in one paragraph, considers disadvantages, and ends with a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Over and above,” “Additionally,” and “Overall” help signal the direction of the discussion, and the main ideas are generally easy to follow. To make progression more consistently clear, ensure each paragraph has a focused purpose and connect the examples more explicitly to the central argument. For instance, the evening-walk example supports convenience, but its link to the claim about mobile payments could be stated more directly. Some transitions feel mechanical, and the conclusion does not clearly resolve the comparison raised in the introduction.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to technology and payments, including “digital wallets,” “transfer of money,” and “psychological stress.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main points, but several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “a tremendous upward growth,” “digitalisation policy of government,” and “fume dispute”; these do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “continously” and “iliterate,” alongside inconsistent forms such as “smart phones.” Aim for precise, conventional phrasing and check spelling and word forms. Using fewer ambitious expressions accurately would make the argument clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if seller has auto-deposit then it would fume dispute among them” and a relative clause in “users … who have digital wallets.” However, attempts at longer structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “the consumer only have to tap” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “with digitalisation policy of government” is missing necessary articles. Other issues include “having a smartphones” and “it's positive and negative side,” where number and possessive forms are incorrect. Work on agreement, articles, and sentence construction, then proofread longer sentences to ensure their clauses fit together accurately.
