In many countries, paying for things using mobile phone (cellphone) apps is becoming increasingly common. Does this development have more advantages or more disadvantages?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years paying with the apps on mobile phone is escalating to higher level now the question is whether this development has more advantages or disadvantages.

I am convinced that this remarkably has advantages compared to disadvantages now It would be misguided that it does not have any disadvantages owning to the facts of the economy differences around the world there are number of disadvantages. In such countires where mobile phone snatching crimes are on higher level this may seem like a big disadvantages Incase of not preserving a physical card with you then it might bring complications to you. Dropping your phone is another challenge for residents to deal with.

I'd argue that mobile phones having apps that can enable us to pay with our cell phones has far more benefits Now that the world has flourish it would gibe rise to such things paying online through moblie apps it seems to be a negligible issue owning to the fact that this is helping inhabitants.

Taking everything into account from my perspective the general public has swift towards technology and started deploying modern ways in society using online payment methods thus I'd recommend sticking with mobile phone paying apps.

A prime example of this is the other day I took an uber from my work to home and He did not had any limited cash on him for my substantial amount consequently I payed him from my mobile phone.

We should not alleviate or terminate the physical cards due to the fact that they can come handy anytime.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a position in favour of mobile payment apps, and you acknowledge disadvantages such as phone theft, losing a phone, and not carrying a physical card. The Uber example also gives a relevant illustration of paying when cash is unavailable. However, the response only partially develops the comparison: the advantages are asserted in general terms (“helping inhabitants”) rather than explained, while the disadvantages receive little analysis. The position is also not consistently clear, since the opening says there are advantages but the discussion does not establish why they outweigh the drawbacks. To strengthen the response, explain specific benefits—such as convenience or faster transactions—and show why these are more significant than the risks, supporting each point with a clear example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, discussion of disadvantages, a statement of the preferred view, an example, and a conclusion. However, progression is difficult to follow because ideas are not grouped consistently: the Uber example appears after “Taking everything into account,” which sounds like a conclusion, and the final sentence introduces another point afterwards. Connections between claims are also unclear, and linking expressions such as “Now that” and “Taking everything into account” do not always show the intended relationship. Use a clearer sequence—introduction, one paragraph for drawbacks, one for advantages and supporting evidence, then conclusion—and make each paragraph develop one main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt some topic-related and less common vocabulary, including “physical card,” “complications,” “inhabitants,” and “online payment methods.” This gives you a basic range for discussing the subject. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “escalating to higher level” is not a natural way to describe growing use, “the world has flourish” uses the wrong form, and “general public has swift towards technology” is unclear. There are also misspellings such as “countires,” “moblie,” and “payed.” Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully; avoid using formal-sounding words when a simpler, accurate expression is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional idea beginning “In such countries where…” and a sentence explaining the Uber example. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and punctuation frequently interrupt the reading. Examples include “the world has flourish,” “He did not had,” and “there are number of disadvantages.” Several sentences also run together without clear punctuation, particularly the opening and the long sentence beginning “I am convinced.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check verb forms and sentence boundaries. More reliable control of these basics will make your ideas easier to understand.
