Student answer (Band 6.0)
With the rapid pace of technology change has reshaped how we live and work and it also changed the methods of buying. Using apps for making payments are becoming in demand. I believe that this development has more advantages than disadvantages because it saves time and offers great convenience.
To begin with, the primary advantage is that people mostly carry their phone everywhere with them, they do not need to take cash or bank cards with them.
Moreover, mobile applications always provides customers better deals if they make the payment through the apps. For instance, food chain companies such as subway and Tim Hortons mostly provides customers discount on purchasing an item and gives points for the next purchase. Thus, this is one of the merits of using digital payment method.
The another significance is that various mobile companies have launched their applications through which they have made it easier for the customers to pay on time. Moreover, paying through apps has made easier to keep up with the transactions and they can easily access their previous orders. For instance, Rogers company have their app and they always sends their customers a reminder prior to their payment which makes their life easier and reduces the chances of forgetting a payment. Thus, this is another significance of using mobile apps for transactions.
To put this in a nutshell, i believe that the advantages of paying through phone apps outweighs the disadvantages, as this method saves time, simplifies daily transactions and help people to manage their payments more efficiently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you believe mobile-app payments have more advantages, particularly through convenience and easier payment management. Both body paragraphs give relevant support, including discounts and loyalty points from food chains and Rogers reminders. This addresses the task and includes examples, but the discussion is not fully balanced or developed: the disadvantages are not considered, and the first point about carrying a phone is only briefly explained. To strengthen the response, acknowledge a relevant drawback, such as security or access for people without smartphones, then explain why the benefits still outweigh it. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation of its impact rather than relying mainly on examples and summary statements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs each focus on a distinct benefit, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moreover” and “For instance” help readers follow the argument. However, some linking is mechanical: “Thus, this is one of the merits” and “Thus, this is another significance” repeat the same summarising pattern rather than advancing the reasoning. The opening sentence is also difficult to follow, which weakens the transition into the position. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and make references such as “this method” or “they” unambiguous. More varied progression within paragraphs would make the organisation feel more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital payment method,” “transactions,” “discount” and “reminder,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal wording, such as “primary advantage” and “significance.” However, some choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “becoming in demand,” “The another significance,” and repeated use of “merits” and “significance” sound unnatural. “Payment through the apps” and “mobile apps for transactions” could also be expressed more precisely and consistently. Aim for natural collocations and avoid using formal-sounding synonyms when a simpler phrase is more accurate. This would improve precision and flexibility without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which” and “if,” and the main ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, however. The opening, “With the rapid pace of technology change has reshaped,” has an incomplete and confused structure. There are agreement errors in “applications always provides,” “companies … provides,” and “Rogers company have … they always sends.” Other examples include “The another significance” and “has made easier to keep up,” where articles or sentence structure need attention. Review subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence construction, and check punctuation around longer sentences. More consistently accurate control of these patterns would make your varied structures clearer.
