Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Rohit,
I am happy to hear that you have finally decided to go for a camping holiday this summer. I am sure that you will enjoy your holiday because you have been working hard lately and day off like this will allow you to enjoy the nature and beauty of different landscape.
I would advise you to choose your overnight stay carefully because you never know if there is any danger of animals nearby your stay. You can research about it by using web. Furthermore, you need to check the weather before you start your trip because some catastrophic events such as rainfall or storm may ruin your experience.
When are you planning to go for a camp? I and my wife would love to join you on this trip. It has been long time since we have done any camping. We used to bring a lot of snacks, drinks and food along with some game equipments such as rackets for badminton, bat and ball for Cricket. I advise you to bring something like this so you will be able to spend quality time with your family.
Please let me know if I can come with you on camping.
Thanks
Kind regards,
Vaibhav

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you explain that a break from work and the natural scenery may appeal to Rohit, mention risks from nearby animals and bad weather, and clearly say that you and your wife would like to join him. This covers the task well, and the invitation gives the letter a personal purpose. However, the reasons your friend might enjoy camping are less developed than the practical warnings and activity suggestions. For example, you could explain more specifically what he might enjoy about outdoor activities or spending time away from routine. The disadvantages are relevant, but could be balanced with practical ways to manage them. Overall, the response is clear and relevant, with some ideas needing further extension.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it moves from the benefits of camping to possible risks, then to whether you would join. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these main points, and questions such as “When are you planning to go for a camp?” support the friendly tone. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The final paragraph shifts from accepting the invitation to describing equipment and advising Rohit what to bring, which makes its main focus less clear. The closing also repeats the idea of joining him. Use clearer links between advice and your own plans, and make the final request or invitation a concise conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a friendly letter, including relevant terms such as “catastrophic events,” “landscape,” and “quality time.” These choices help communicate the topic, and the meaning remains clear. Some word combinations and expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, though: “day off like this,” “enjoy the nature,” “nearby your stay,” and “game equipments” do not sound idiomatic. “Catastrophic” is also stronger than needed for ordinary rain or a storm. Aim for natural collocations and precise wording rather than choosing an unusually strong term. For example, “a break like this,” “enjoy nature,” and “sports equipment” would express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the reason clause “because you have been working hard lately” and the conditional “so you will be able to spend quality time.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “day off like this” (missing an article), “I and my wife” (incorrect pronoun order), and “It has been long time” (missing an article). The question “When are you planning to go for a camp?” also has an awkward grammatical pattern. Review articles, pronoun order, and prepositions in common constructions. Greater accuracy in these areas would make the letter read more smoothly while preserving its friendly tone.
