Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Dhruv,
How's it going? It's been a very long time since we last talked! I'm really glad to know that you are planning your maiden campaign holiday.
Since you have been an athlete for almost 10 years now, I'm sure that you will love to explore amazing hiking routes, which are generally surrounded by the mountains. What's more is that you'll get a chance to make your own tend to spend a night in extremely pleasant and calm atmosphere. Plus, you can also bring your own barbeque and enhance your campaign experience.
Undoubtedly, these aspects of campaign holidays make our trip one to remember; but there are certain drawback, which are crucial to keep in mind while planning your trip. First, a number of conservation areas have some dangerous wild animals such as tigers and lions. So please ensure that your destination is monitored by wildlife inspects on a regular bases. Also, majority of campaign locations do not provide better network accessibility; thus, ensure that you have a satellite mobile phone, just in case.
I wish I could join you for this amazing trip, but I've to prepare for my French examination, which is going to take place next week. Aside from that I recently had a knee surgery, so my doctor had told me have enough rest for at least a month.
I hope I was able to give you some helpful tips for you next trip, still if you get any confusion feel free to send me a text message.
Take care,
Manan.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You explained why your friend would enjoy camping, highlighted relevant disadvantages, and clearly stated your inability to join. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, there is a recurring error where you use the word 'campaign' instead of 'camping'. This is a significant lexical error that slightly impacts the clarity of your message, as 'campaign' refers to political or social activities, not outdoor holidays. Despite this, the ideas are well-developed and the letter fulfills the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each bullet point, and a polite closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'What's more', 'Undoubtedly', and 'Aside from that' to link your ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different topics. The flow of information is smooth, and the reader can easily follow your train of thought. To reach a higher band, ensure that your referencing is precise and that you avoid repetitive sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, such as 'maiden', 'accessibility', and 'pleasant'. However, the persistent misuse of 'campaign' instead of 'camping' is a noticeable error that affects your score. Additionally, there are minor collocation errors, such as 'make your own tend' (likely meant 'tent') and 'wildlife inspects' (should be 'inspectors'). While you attempt to use a variety of words, these inaccuracies in word choice and spelling prevent a higher score. Focus on checking the correct terminology for the specific topic you are writing about.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Since you have been an athlete for almost 10 years now, I'm sure that you will love to explore...'. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'my doctor had told me have enough rest' (should be 'to have') and 'on a regular bases' (should be 'basis'). Punctuation is generally correct, and these errors do not impede communication. To improve, focus on verb patterns and ensuring consistent subject-verb agreement throughout your writing.
