Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all three bullet points: the benefits of camping, potential disadvantages, and the offer to join. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited due to the brevity of the response. The letter is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which prevents a full exploration of the points. For instance, the mention of 'bad weather' and 'lack of water' is very brief. To improve, you should expand on your personal experiences or provide more detailed advice to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more thorough engagement with the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a basic structure, but the lack of paragraphing makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. While there is a logical flow from the greeting to the advice and the closing, the absence of clear paragraph breaks between the different points requested in the prompt hinders coherence. You should use distinct paragraphs for each bullet point to improve the organization. Additionally, the use of cohesive devices is minimal; using more linking words like 'furthermore', 'however', or 'consequently' would help connect your sentences more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for a simple letter to a friend, but it lacks the range required for a higher band. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'visiting the camping holiday' (instead of 'going on a camping holiday') and 'provide what you need in extra'. The phrase 'I can borrow you' is a common error; the correct verb is 'lend'. To improve, try to incorporate more descriptive adjectives and precise collocations related to outdoor activities and travel to demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Since long time I didn't seen you' (should be 'It has been a long time since I last saw you') and 'The coach are' (subject-verb agreement error). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. Additionally, try to incorporate complex sentences using relative clauses or conditional structures to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
