Student answer (Band 7.0)
Hi Roman,
I hope you're doing great! I am really happy for you as i heard that you're going on a camping holiday.
It's just my little advice you should enjoy your camping a lot, because these days are very special and memorable and never comes again. You would enjoy a plenty of things like hiking, swimming, long travelling and many outdoor activities, that helped a lot to reduce our stress and gives a break from daily hectic schedule.
However, you should take care of you're health as well because of hot weather these days. It will be a new environment for you so you might get some infections or dehydration, if you walk a lot with small drink of water.
I wish i can join you on this trip but i have a very important appointment this weekend, so I'd not be able to come with you. But never worries, let's catch up soon- when you come back.
Take Care,
Jashan

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing potential disadvantages, and stating your availability. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of why your friend would enjoy camping is quite brief, and the disadvantages section focuses primarily on health rather than the practical challenges of camping (such as sleeping arrangements or weather). To reach a higher band, try to expand on your points with more specific details or personal anecdotes to make the letter feel more substantial and engaging.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices like 'However' and 'but' to connect ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. For instance, the transition between the benefits of camping and the health advice could be smoother. Additionally, the paragraphing is functional, but ensure that each paragraph focuses strictly on one main idea to improve the overall structure. Using a wider variety of linking words would help the text feel more cohesive and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You use a range of vocabulary that is sufficient for the task, such as 'memorable', 'hectic schedule', and 'dehydration'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'a plenty of things' (should be 'plenty of things') and 'never comes again' (should be 'never come again'). While the vocabulary is adequate to convey your message clearly, it lacks the precision and variety of less common lexical items that would be expected at a higher band level. Focusing on more natural collocations will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'i heard' (should be 'I heard'), 'you're health' (should be 'your health'), and 'I wish i can' (should be 'I wish I could'). These errors are frequent but do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, pronoun usage, and verb tense consistency. While you attempt complex sentences, the accuracy of these structures needs to be more consistent to reach a higher band. Proofreading for basic punctuation and capitalization errors would also be beneficial.
