Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Akash
How are you doing today. I recently got your message about going to the camp in this summer. I am sure you will enjoy your holiday because of your adventurous nature. The natural beauty will definitely attract you as you are a nature lover.
There are a lot of things that should kept into mind while going on such trips as no one knows the possible threats that could happen when we go for any outing. You take the medicines along with you in case you get any emergency in the new area. Also, make proper arrangements for the power stations as in some areas there is no power. I would love to join in the trip but i have my exam this summer.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: explaining why the friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and stating whether you can join. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of your ideas. For instance, the 'disadvantages' section is quite brief and focuses more on advice (medicines/power) rather than the inherent downsides of camping, such as lack of comfort or unpredictable weather. To improve, aim to expand on each point with more descriptive language and personal anecdotes to meet the length requirement and provide a more thorough response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the opening to the specific points requested. Paragraphing is present, though the transition between the benefits and the disadvantages is somewhat abrupt. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Also' and 'in case', but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', 'Consequently'). The overall progression is clear, but the brevity of the text makes the cohesion feel somewhat mechanical rather than fluid.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for a personal letter, but it lacks variety and precision. You rely on common phrases like 'natural beauty' and 'things that should be kept in mind'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more specific vocabulary related to camping (e.g., 'wilderness', 'amenities', 'unpredictable weather', 'rugged'). There are no major spelling errors, but the range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts your ability to express more nuanced ideas about the camping experience.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentences, but there are several grammatical errors. For example, 'should kept into mind' should be 'should be kept in mind', and 'get any emergency' is unnatural; 'face an emergency' would be better. Additionally, 'join in the trip' is slightly awkward; 'join you on the trip' is more accurate. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of your writing.
