Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Samir,
I hope you're as fit as a fiddle. I am writing to suggest a beautiful location for camping this summer, as you asked for my viewpoint.
As per my perspective, Elora George site is the best location for camping, especially for a person who going for the first time. In this location, many facilities already available such fire wood for night time, clean washrooms, and water supply. Therefore, you will not have to worry about anything extra. Apart from this, this is the best location for watching millions of stars at the night time as you have a keen interest in space and solar system.
However, this camping place has few drawbacks, which might affect your trip. First one is the booking procedure. You may have to call multiple times to the registered number that quite stressful because of poor customer service. Another disadvantage is mosquitos, who might be affect your sleep, so arrange any protection.
As you are going for this adventure, I got an amazing idea, which might be thrilled you. I am thinking should I join with you in this trip? I would be grateful if could accept my company.
Let me know what do you think about my opinion.
Regards,
Vivek.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You explained why your friend would enjoy camping, identified specific disadvantages, and clearly expressed your interest in joining the trip. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and informal register throughout. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are slightly more detailed; for instance, when mentioning the 'booking procedure' as a disadvantage, you could briefly explain why it is stressful beyond just the poor customer service.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from this', 'However', and 'Therefore' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical errors in sentence structure, such as 'I am thinking should I join with you'. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is clear. To improve, try to vary your linking words further and ensure that the transition between sentences feels more natural rather than relying on simple conjunctions.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using phrases like 'fit as a fiddle' and 'keen interest'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'who might be affect your sleep' (should be 'which might affect') and 'join with you in this trip' (should be 'join you on this trip'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over common collocations. Expanding your vocabulary to include more idiomatic expressions or precise adjectives would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips throughout the text, such as 'a person who going for the first time' (should be 'who is going'), 'many facilities already available' (missing 'are'), and 'what do you think about my opinion' (should be 'what you think'). These errors are frequent but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs in questions and relative clauses. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures will also help improve your score.
