Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: explaining why the friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and confirming your interest in joining. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For instance, the reasons for enjoying camping are listed rather than explained, and the disadvantages are mentioned briefly without elaboration. To improve, you should expand on your points—for example, instead of just mentioning 'weather' or 'network', explain how these might affect the experience. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, but the overall depth of the response needs to be increased to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. You should use clear paragraphing to separate the different parts of the task (e.g., one paragraph for the benefits, one for the drawbacks, and one for your decision to join). While you use some basic cohesive devices like 'first one' and 'secondly', the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The lack of proper punctuation, such as missing full stops and incorrect capitalization, further hinders the logical progression of your ideas. Improving your use of linking words and paragraph structure will significantly enhance the readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for a basic level of communication, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrases like 'enjoy the camping holiday' and 'do together'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'According to my perspective' (which should be 'In my opinion') and 'going to camping holiday' (which should be 'going on a camping holiday'). To improve, try to incorporate more descriptive adjectives and varied verbs to express your thoughts more naturally. Expanding your vocabulary to include more specific terms related to outdoor activities would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and fragments (e.g., 'mountains, trekking, other stuff to do'). You also struggle with article usage ('the camping holiday') and verb tense consistency. Many sentences are simple, and there is a lack of complex structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb. Pay close attention to punctuation, as the current lack of full stops makes the text feel like a continuous stream of thought rather than distinct, well-formed sentences.
