Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Rohan,

I am writing this letter to you because I received you message that you are seeking my advice for your upcoming summer camping holiday.

I am pretty sure that you are going to enjoy those Waterparks, Waterfalls and Cooking while camping in wild because of your spontaneous nature. I believe that you will be exploring other activities like Hiking and Stargazing because of the the kink you got in yourself.

I want you to be careful about some disadvantages like you could have an encounter with dangerous animals from the wildlife like Grizzly Bear and Cougar they can cause harm or injury if you do not remain attentive. If you are not good at Swimming then Swim jacket is must have thing for you. While making any kind of booking of a place make sure to get reviews about it from other people because there are many scams are going on in this season.

I will definitely join you in this camping if you want because it is you first time at camping I do not want you to go alone. We will create so many memories together in this summer while camping. I would love to teach you some campfire tactics.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Beaver

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing potential disadvantages, and confirming your willingness to join. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the ideas are relevant. However, some points could be developed further. For instance, while you mention 'campfire tactics,' providing more specific examples of why you enjoy camping would strengthen the personal connection. The advice regarding safety is practical and well-integrated into the letter structure. Overall, the response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'While making any kind of booking' and 'I look forward to,' to link your thoughts. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'on the other hand') to improve the flow between sentences and paragraphs, as some transitions currently feel a bit mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'stargazing,' 'campfire tactics,' and 'wildlife.' However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as 'the kink you got in yourself' (which is unclear) and 'Swim jacket is must have thing' (which should be 'a life jacket is a must-have'). Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations and idiomatic expressions would enhance the naturalness of your writing and help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I received you message' (your), 'there are many scams are going on' (remove 'are'), and 'it is you first time' (your). Additionally, some punctuation and article usage (e.g., 'the wildlife') could be improved. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help you move toward a higher band score.
