Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Manjot,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing in response to your letter about going on a camping holiday. I was delighted to hear that you are considering visiting for a camping, and I would love to advise you in this regard.
I believe you would surely enjoy your camping holiday. Since this is your first time doing this wonderful activity, it will provide you a completely new experience. camping is a great way of relaxation, feeling refreshed and break the monotony of everyday life by doing something exciting.
However, I would like to inform about some possible difficulties that you might face, so you can prepare in advance. Firstly, try to search the area before visiting because some areas are not safe and have caused significant inconvenience. Moreover, If you are not comfortable to sleep outside, then try to get tent with you, which can enable you to sleep properly. In addition, sometimes the food is either not available or unsuitable, I also advice that you bring some food with you.
I am also thinking to join you on this camping holiday in this summer. It would be great fun and opportunity to spend quality time together. Please let me know your thoughts about this.
I hope you will have a great trip. let me know what you have decided.
Best wishes,
harmeet

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly explain why camping is enjoyable, provide relevant disadvantages such as safety concerns and food availability, and confirm your interest in joining the trip. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that your advice is slightly more detailed; for instance, when mentioning safety, you could briefly explain what kind of research you mean. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets all requirements of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In addition' to link your ideas. While these are functional, the flow is occasionally slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your transitions and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to previous nouns. Paragraphing is used correctly to separate the different aspects of the letter, which helps the reader follow your train of thought easily. The structure is coherent and supports the overall message well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'break the monotony' and 'significant inconvenience'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'visiting for a camping' (should be 'going camping') and 'try to get tent with you' (should be 'bring a tent'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that your word forms are accurate in context. Your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'it will provide you a completely new experience' (missing 'with'), 'I also advice' (should be 'advise'), and 'in this summer' (the 'in' is unnecessary). Additionally, there are some punctuation and capitalization errors, such as 'camping' not being capitalized at the start of a sentence. Despite these errors, your control of grammar is generally good, and the mistakes do not cause difficulty for the reader. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
