Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Chomesh,
It has been too long since we last spoke! I'm writing to advise you about the camping trip you plan to go on this summer.
There are many compelling reasons why I believe you would enjoy this camping trip. First is the location you have chosen, which has extremely eye-catching scenic views and the best sunrise point ever. Another is that the guides and organizers have an amazing reputation for holding this kind of summer camp.
However, there are certain concerns about the camping as well. You have to stay in the tent and follow the instructions from your organizers because they have pretty much all the knowledge about all types of situations.
Don't worry about the drawbacks; I know you will overcome these challenges and have an excellent experience for a lifetime. I also wanna come with you; unfortunately, I have an important meeting with my client.
I hope my advice will be helpful, and you will have fun on your holidays. I love to hear back from you.
Kind regards,
Chaman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explain why your friend would enjoy the trip, mention potential disadvantages (staying in a tent and following strict rules), and clarify your inability to join. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For instance, the disadvantages are described quite briefly, and the explanation of why your friend would enjoy the trip relies on general statements rather than specific, vivid details. To reach a higher band, try to expand on your ideas with more personal or descriptive examples. Overall, the tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First', 'Another', and 'However' to link your ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, the transition between the disadvantages and the final paragraph feels a bit abrupt. The paragraphing is appropriate for a letter format. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the progression between sentences is more fluid, rather than relying on simple list-like transitions. Overall, the message is easy to follow, and the structure supports the content well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'compelling reasons', 'eye-catching scenic views', and 'excellent experience'. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, though some choices are slightly informal or imprecise, such as 'wanna' (which should be avoided in formal or semi-formal writing) and 'best sunrise point ever'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but to achieve a higher score, you should aim for more precise collocations and avoid colloquial contractions. The spelling is accurate throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I'm writing to advise you about the camping trip you plan to go on this summer.' Most of your sentences are clear and error-free, though there are minor slips, such as 'I love to hear back from you' (should be 'I would love to hear back from you'). Punctuation is generally handled well. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as conditional sentences or passive voice, to demonstrate greater control. The current level of accuracy is good, and errors do not impede communication.
