Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Raman,
I hope you are doing great ,I am writing this to you to let you know that its a good idea to go on camping this summer.
First of all camping is a good method of enjoying the beauty of nature and to know more about our beautiful nature around us. The good part is if you are planning to go to a lake that would be great because I know you love lakes. There are so many activities that you can enjoy there like preparing food on stoves , building your tents or enjoying fire woods at night your loved ones. And I wish you would have a great time there.
On the other hand negative , camping can be difficult at some point like sometimes you have to tackle with some animals or insects there . Also weather plays a significant role like bad weather can destroy your camping.
Lastly , I would advice you to go only with your friends .Don't go alone as this is your first time ever .So having some people with you would be great time.
Look forward to your response and to know about your experience. Have a lovely camping .ENJOY!
Yours truly
Sukhman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and stating your availability. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention 'tackle with some animals' as a disadvantage, this could be expanded with more detail to fully develop the point. Similarly, your explanation of why your friend would enjoy camping is a bit repetitive regarding 'nature'. To reach a higher band, ensure each point is explored with more depth and specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some transition signals like 'First of all', 'On the other hand', and 'Lastly' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and some cohesive devices are used slightly awkwardly, such as 'On the other hand negative'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'camping', 'stoves', and 'tents'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'enjoying fire woods' (should be 'enjoying a campfire') and 'tackle with some animals' (should be 'deal with' or 'encounter'). To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise vocabulary to describe your experiences and advice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am writing this to you to let you know that its a good idea to go on camping' (should be 'go camping') and 'I would advice you' (should be 'advise'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. Increasing your control over basic grammar and proofreading for small errors would significantly improve your score.
