Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mihir,
It's been a long time. I am writing to response of your concern about first-time camping for this summer as you've asked.
Firstly, I would definitely know that you loved it. As you're always wanted to go for camping from our collage days. As you're more into nature, wildlife & adventurous person. So, you will have a ball at this time.
Camping is different way of enjoying with either family or friends. However, there are some drawbacks as well to look for campsites such as weather conditions, poor campsites, accessibility, cost. Just check properly before book it.
last but not least, Are you planning to go with your family or friends? I would suggest, if you can plan to go camping with your friends would be more helpful and safe for this time. As it is your first time experience of going to camping. Next time, you'll get more confident and prepare to take your family on camp.
I hope this

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: explaining why the friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and mentioning the possibility of joining. However, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly with 'I hope this' and failing to provide a closing salutation or a clear answer to the final prompt regarding whether you would like to go camping yourself. The development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the advice on who to go with is slightly confusing and does not directly answer the prompt about your own participation. To improve, ensure all parts of the prompt are fully addressed and the letter is brought to a natural, complete conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow of ideas is occasionally disjointed. For example, the transition between the benefits of camping and the drawbacks is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly' and 'However', but some are used incorrectly or mechanically, such as 'last but not least' which is not followed by a complete thought. The lack of a proper closing makes the overall progression feel unfinished. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, complete focus would improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be understood. You use some relevant topic-specific vocabulary like 'campsites', 'wildlife', and 'weather conditions'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'I am writing to response of your concern' (should be 'in response to your query') and 'you'll get more confident and prepare to take your family on camp' (should be 'you will feel more confident'). Expanding your range of vocabulary and focusing on correct collocations will help you achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'I would definitely know that you loved it' (should be 'I am sure you would love it') and 'As you're always wanted to go' (should be 'As you have always wanted to go'). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of verb tenses and sentence construction.
