Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Hira,
Hope this letter finds you in the best of spirit.
In your last letter you mentioned that you are planning to take a break from hectic job routine and wants to go on camping holiday this summer. It is an amazing idea to choose camping as I personally believes that camping is one most relaxing recreational activity to divert your mind towards relaxation and peace.
You will surely enjoy this activity as it encourages you to do something creative and, I recommend you to choose lakeside for camping as it gives most beautiful sunset view and as you are fond of art it gives you a view to show your magic through brush.
There are some issues there that you have to keep in your mind. Firstly there is danger of slipping because that site is just a bit slippery so don,t forget to bring your first aid box , torch, flashlight and other necessary equipment.
Secondly, at night it might be extremely uncomfortable to sleep due to high sound of water flow so, must bring your air pods or headphones, comfortable sleeping bags and pillows.
I have a busy schedule this summer. I really want to go with you but task deadlines are near and it is hard to manege.
Hope you will enjoy your camping holiday. Must share you experience after returning and stat safe.
With lots of love,
Amna

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You clearly explain why camping is enjoyable, provide relevant disadvantages (slippery terrain and noise), and state your inability to join due to work commitments. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, while you mention the 'danger of slipping', you could briefly elaborate on why this is a concern for a first-time camper. Overall, the response is well-focused and fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In your last letter' to guide the reader. However, the paragraphing is slightly inconsistent, and some transitions feel a bit mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph focuses strictly on one main idea. The progression of ideas is clear, and the letter flows well from start to finish.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'recreational activity', 'hectic', and 'deadlines'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'best of spirit' (should be 'spirits') and 'manege' (spelling error for 'manage'). While you attempt to use more descriptive language, some phrases are slightly unnatural. Increasing your use of less common collocations and ensuring precise word usage will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as subject-verb agreement errors ('I personally believes') and punctuation issues (the comma usage in 'don,t' and the spacing around commas). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation consistency. Incorporating more varied complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses or relative clauses, would also strengthen your performance.
