Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sara,
I hope you are doing great. I am surprise that you are thinking to go on camping. As your friend I know that it is not your choice but i am glad to give you some advices regarding this that will definitely help you for sure during your camping.
Camping is a fun. I am sure that you will love it and wanted to go again next yea. Its full with adventure where you will find a nice beautiful spot may be in the woods or near river and water bodies for your camp, where you can make your tent and cook something delicious for you and your friends. It is such is lively experience and you will love it.
There might be some drawbacks of camping and you might face some challenges because you are not used to this. It is hard to do camping in the woods and near water especially, as you don't know how to swim. wild animals like beer could be dangerous. Furthermore, rainy weather can cause some issues and ruin your holidays. So, well planned everything and get some basic tools with you which are required. I will send you the list of the essential items.
I usually go for camping almost every year with my friends but this time I have some other plans because my parents are coming from India. I want to spend my quality time with them and planning to take them to Lake Luis and Banff.
I hope you will enjoy your camping don't forget to share your gorgeous pictures with me. If you need any further help give me a call. Lots of love and excited to hear your camping stories.
Yours lovely,
Hardeep kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing potential disadvantages, and stating your availability to join. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose is clear throughout. The ideas are relevant, though some points, such as the specific dangers of 'wild animals like beer' (presumably bears), could be developed with more precision to better support your argument. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively, maintaining a consistent focus on the topic from start to finish.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Furthermore' and 'So', to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally slightly mechanical, and some transitions could be smoother. For instance, the jump from discussing camping challenges to your personal plans is a bit abrupt. The use of referencing is generally clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for a letter format, which helps the reader follow your train of thought without difficulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'lively experience', 'essential items', and 'drawbacks'. However, there are some noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'I am surprise' instead of 'I am surprised', 'not your choice' instead of 'not your usual preference', and the misspelling of 'bear' as 'beer'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more attention to collocation and accuracy. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise descriptive adjectives would help elevate your writing to a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'thinking to go' instead of 'thinking of going', 'it is not your choice' (which is slightly unnatural), 'well planned everything' instead of 'plan everything well', and 'Yours lovely' instead of 'Yours lovingly'. These errors are frequent but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and consistent verb tense application, as these are currently the main areas where your control is inconsistent.
