Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear John,
I'm thrilled that you had planned on a camping holiday this summer and I'd love to share some experiences since this is your first doing.
I'm certain that you'd have amazing time during those days, and gladly explain to me what you are to experience with. As I know you more of exploring type, this kind of trips brings more curosity and adventurous experience. Moreover, the night music along with camp fire would please the journey memorable one.
I'm hoping you are aware that this would be an easier task either. It has its own risks such as the threats of slipping during hikings; wild animals during night stay and especially the weather which is unpredictable. I suggest you to look into all precautionary measures shared by the organizer and well prepared in advance will put your endanger at considerably a lower level.
I'm so excited to go camping with you, however I have other plans lined up this summer and meeting the family after four long years of studying abroad. I truly wish you a happy and cherishable camping ahead and never miss to write the story to me.
Love you as always,
Vidhya

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You explained why your friend would enjoy camping, identified specific disadvantages like unpredictable weather and wild animals, and clearly stated that you cannot join them due to other commitments. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could have elaborated more on why your friend's personality makes them suited for camping. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets all requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'however' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, such as 'gladly explain to me what you are to experience with,' which is confusing and disrupts the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different topics. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the logical progression between sentences is smoother and more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'precautionary,' 'unpredictable,' and 'adventurous.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'first doing' (instead of 'first time'), 'put your endanger at considerably a lower level' (which is grammatically and lexically incorrect), and 'cherishable' (which is not standard usage). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and common English collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'you had planned' (should be 'you are planning'), 'amazing time' (missing article 'an'), and 'never miss to write' (should be 'don't forget to write'). The sentence 'put your endanger at considerably a lower level' is particularly problematic in terms of structure. While you can communicate your meaning, the frequency of these errors limits your score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions to improve accuracy.
