Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Arush,
I hope you are doing great.
I am glad that you are planning for a camping next week.
In my opinion, you would love this vacation as spending life in forest is totally adventures and soothing. Camping will be a kind of therapy to your soul as your will get escape from hustle and bustle of life. Don't forget to take your camera with you as you are fond of photography, that would be the best chance to appreciate the beauty of forest with your hobby.
There are some possible cons of planning a camping firstly make sure the weather is sunny that day as cloudy weather stimulate numerous problems for a first - time camper. Secondly, there are very high chance of meeting a wild animal in camping zone at night. At last, there are large number poisonous
plant in forest which could be harmful for you so please be aware of them.
I was so excited to join when I read your letter, unluckily my mom informed me that we have attend a family function next weekend. I would definitely be with you at your next camping holiday. I wish you would have great holiday.
Best regards
Shubham

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You explained why your friend would enjoy camping, provided relevant disadvantages, and clearly stated your inability to join. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. To improve, you could expand slightly on the 'why'—for example, by mentioning specific activities like hiking or campfire cooking—to make the ideas more fully developed. The structure is logical, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. You have successfully met the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each addressing a specific bullet point. You use some cohesive devices such as 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'at last' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The flow between sentences is generally smooth, though some phrasing, such as 'at last, there are large number poisonous plant', lacks a smooth connection to the previous point. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent pluralization would help the text flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'hustle and bustle' and 'soothing' are used effectively. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'spending life in forest' (should be 'spending time in the forest') and 'adventures' (should be 'adventurous'). Additionally, there are minor errors with pluralization, such as 'large number poisonous plant' instead of 'large numbers of poisonous plants'. These errors do not impede communication but indicate a need for more precise word usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips throughout the text. For example, 'as your will get escape' (should be 'as you will get an escape') and 'we have attend' (should be 'we have to attend'). There are also missing articles, such as 'planning for a camping' (should be 'planning a camping trip') and 'in forest' (should be 'in the forest'). Increasing your control over articles and verb forms will help you achieve a higher score.
