Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Kishan,

Hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to give a suggestion regarding the camping holiday for the first time in this summer. i would also mention the possible limitations of the camping.

To commence with, I am truly sure that you and your friends will enjoyed the camping as in camping at first they have different physical activities, after that you can also enjoy the pool party with your friends and later on during evening they also arranged the bornfire and musical nights.

Moreover, there might be certain difficulties in the camping like they have safety issue during the physical activities as well as there is also problem in the sound system ocassionally.

Lastly, me and mine group of friend already decided to go in this summer camping and we have booked our ticket for next sunday. You can also come and join with us.

Your faithfully,

Gautam.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing potential disadvantages, and inviting them to join you. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the 'disadvantages' section is quite brief and lacks specific detail, and the explanation of why they would enjoy it relies on a list of activities rather than a more personal or persuasive argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more descriptive language or personal reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Lastly' to signal the structure of your response. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'they have different physical activities'—it is not immediately clear who 'they' refers to). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun references would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas clearly, such as 'limitations', 'physical activities', and 'occasionally'. However, there are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'give a suggestion' (better: 'make a suggestion') and 'mine group of friend' (should be 'my group of friends'). Additionally, there are a few spelling errors like 'bornfire' (bonfire) and 'ocassionally' (occasionally). To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and proofreading for spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'you and your friends will enjoyed' (should be 'will enjoy'), 'in this summer' (should be 'this summer'), and 'me and mine group' (should be 'my group'). The use of articles and verb tenses needs more attention. While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of your writing.
