Student answer (Band 6.0)
My dearest John,
I am writing to propose a suggestion regarding camping holiday for the first time this summer, so it is a good idea and as I know various things about camping. I would like to share with you some important things about camping.
It has come to my attention that you always loved to be in nature and you can enjoy your dinner in the middle of the forest along with that you can do bone fire and lots of fun by playing games and doing dance. Also, this summer However, there are few possible drawbacks of camping like bad weather, insects and mosquitos will bite at night and may be presence of animals near by camping area.
Furthermore, carry something like bat or stick that can useful during the camping and it can protect you from wildlife. Also, I would like to join camping holiday this summer because I have n plans this summer for holiday. As you are visiting for the first time so it will good to have one experience person with you for camping and I can guide you as well and we can enjoy and make some good memories together.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the benefits of camping, the drawbacks, and the offer to join. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the advice regarding safety (carrying a bat or stick) is a bit unusual and lacks the depth expected for a more natural response. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a friend, but the opening is slightly awkward and repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with more specific, realistic details rather than listing them briefly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'Also' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are abrupt, such as the sudden shift in the second paragraph starting with 'Also, this summer'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'drawbacks', 'wildlife', and 'propose a suggestion'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'bone fire' (bonfire), 'presence of animals near by' (nearby), and 'one experience person' (experienced). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring you use the correct word forms in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including missing articles ('a camping holiday'), incorrect verb forms ('you always loved' instead of 'you have always loved'), and punctuation issues. Some sentences are run-on or lack necessary prepositions, such as 'I have n plans'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
