Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Neema,
I hope you’re doing great. I’m extremely delighted to hear that you finally planned to go summer camp this year and I’ll be definitely joining this trip with you to create our childhood memories again.
I’am definitely sure that you will like the adventures activities which will be organised thought out all two days. The most trilling experience would be watching the wild animals with more closer views. Moreover, camping during the night in the middle of jungle and listening to animals sounds will be extraordinary to explore.
I would like to warn not to wear any sleeveless dresses and make sure you carry appropriate footwear to walk comfortably. Secondly, do not get attract to any flowers and insects, they are more vulnerable. Finally carrying own water bottle and some snacks will be smart idea.
I really can’t wait more days to join you for the summer camp. I’m sure you feel the same.
Get ready for the exciting days. See you soon.
Warm regards,
Anjali

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: explaining why the friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and confirming your attendance. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the 'disadvantages' section focuses on safety advice rather than the inherent drawbacks of camping (such as lack of facilities or unpredictable weather). To reach a higher band, ensure that the points are fully extended with more descriptive detail. Overall, the response is relevant and fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Secondly', and 'Finally' to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural in context. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. The letter follows a logical structure, starting with a friendly opening and ending with a clear closing, which is appropriate for this task type.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'extraordinary', 'vulnerable', and 'appropriate'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'adventures activities' should be 'adventure activities', and 'get attract to' is grammatically incorrect (should be 'get attracted to'). Additionally, 'more closer views' is redundant. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on correct collocations will improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I’am definitely sure' (should be 'I am'), 'organised thought out' (should be 'throughout'), and 'carrying own water bottle' (missing an article). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'I really can’t wait more days'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. Increasing your control over basic grammar and articles will help you achieve a higher score.
