Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Nikhat,
I heard from your mom that you are planning to spend your summer camping near the woods. I believe it turn's out to be a great experience for you.
My advice to you is that you should go and explore this oppurtunity and live your life to the fullest. Get to know other people and enjoy the greenery and nature make more friends. I would say not to miss this chance in life and go for camping.
Camping are sometimes very unexpected you might not have acess to internet and electricity so remember to carry you powerbank along with you. moreover, carry full length clothes as there will be mosquito and insects that can enter our tent.
I will be more than happy to join you for camping this summer. as a child i always wanted to do campaing in groups, this is like checking the buket list.
hope to see you soon.
love bish

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing potential disadvantages, and confirming your interest in joining. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the lack of electricity as a disadvantage, you could have expanded more on the challenges of outdoor living to provide a more comprehensive response. The ideas are relevant, but they remain at a surface level. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is elaborated with more detail or personal reflection.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is generally coherent, and the progression of ideas is logical. You use basic paragraphing to separate the different parts of the task. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. There is a reliance on simple sentence structures, and the connection between ideas is sometimes abrupt. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'on the other hand') would help the flow of your writing and make the relationships between your ideas clearer.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'greenery', 'nature', and 'powerbank'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'oppurtunity' (opportunity), 'acess' (access), and 'buket' (bucket). Additionally, some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'camping are sometimes very unexpected'. To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and try to incorporate a wider range of less common lexical items or collocations to demonstrate more flexibility and precision in your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'it turn's out' (it will turn out), 'camping are' (camping is), and 'as a child i always wanted to do campaing' (camping). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and apostrophes. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
