Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Harsh,
It's been a while since I spoke to you, I hope you are doing well and your family as well. I glad that you though of doing camping this summer. As it's your fist time, so I would like to tell you some interesting facts about camping.
The location you decided the Mount Tremblant; so beautiful landscape with mesmerizing views. Where you will see a crystal clear lake surrounded by mountains. You will feel refreshing after your hectic semester exams.
However, be aware at other side of valley of the mountain, their is a forest where wild animals roam freely and sometimes coming to lake to drink water. Also, there no room for internet connection so carry a navigation map along with without fail.
Honestly, I was planning since last year to have a small camping there. So if possible, let me know whether I can also join you to camping.
Overall, it will be your great trip in this summer. I will be waiting for your call for a trip.
With lots of love,
Akshay

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You explain why your friend would enjoy camping, mention potential disadvantages like wild animals and lack of internet, and express interest in joining the trip. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the advice regarding the lack of internet is brief, and the explanation of why your friend would enjoy the trip could be more detailed to fully satisfy the 'well-developed' criteria for higher bands. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of content is basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Also', and 'Overall' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing or missing articles, such as 'The location you decided the Mount Tremblant'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas could be smoother. While the structure is coherent, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical rather than flexible, which limits the score in this category.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'mesmerizing', 'landscape', and 'hectic'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'doing camping' (instead of 'going camping'), 'fist time' (spelling error), and 'at other side of valley'. These errors do not impede communication, but they show a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more accurate collocations and avoid repetitive or slightly unnatural phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('at other side of valley'), incorrect verb forms ('I glad that you though'), and punctuation issues. Some sentences are grammatically incomplete or awkward, such as 'The location you decided the Mount Tremblant; so beautiful landscape'. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. You need to focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve your accuracy.
