Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Lovish,
Hope you are doing good,
I heard you were planning for camping holiday, so you have to know about few things you will enjoy a lot. As I know you love to visit new places and this will be your best experience, as we are got to spend time together after a long time and camping in nature will give you relaxation and believe me you will forget about all stress and workload.
It is true that you will enjoy but camping is not an easy thing to do there is lack of facility there which caused to lack of sleep as camping will be in forest so there were insects and sometime bad weather also, but we can manage.
At last, don't think so much I will be there with you and we enjoy that trip
and we make it memorable.
See you soon,
Take care
Your lovely,
Samrat

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining why the friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and confirming your participation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of why the friend would enjoy it is quite brief, and the description of disadvantages lacks specific detail, relying on general statements like 'lack of facility'. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more descriptive language or personal anecdotes. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and informal register throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into three distinct paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. Phrases like 'At last' are used to transition, but the connection between sentences within paragraphs is often weak, leading to a slightly choppy flow. For example, the second paragraph jumps between ideas about facilities, sleep, and weather without smooth linking words. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring that sentences are logically connected would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on common words like 'good', 'enjoy', and 'things'. While these words communicate your meaning clearly, they do not demonstrate the range or precision required for a higher band. There are also some minor issues with word choice, such as 'we are got to spend time', which is grammatically incorrect and awkward. To improve, try to incorporate more specific adjectives and topic-related vocabulary, such as 'amenities', 'wilderness', or 'unpredictable weather', to make your writing more engaging and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. For example, 'I heard you were planning for camping holiday' is missing an article, and 'there is lack of facility there which caused to lack of sleep' contains tense and structural errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that your verb tenses remain consistent throughout the letter. Proofreading for basic sentence construction will help reduce these frequent errors.
