Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Rohan,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter regarding suggest to you how you can enjoy your camping holidays. First of all, I believed you would enjoy your in Triund because it is one of best camping place in Himachal pardesh. Moreover, millions of people usually come on place in a each year due to its beauty. Unfortunatly, there are also some disadvantages in the summer camp. Firstly, in the summer season Triund usually get full crowded due to large number of tourism. Similarly, I don’t think so you would get chance to click pictures with the attractive scenery. In tandem with this, in summer season mostly food is also more expensive than normal days. Conversely, I want to suggest you if you are going to triund for camping in summer, you should must bring your own food. However, I am unable to enjoy with you owing to my business meeting.

I hope you will enjoy lot there with your girlfriend.

Best wishes

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and stating your availability. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention Triund as a location, the explanation of why it is enjoyable is brief and lacks descriptive detail. The disadvantages are mentioned, but the advice to bring food is a bit abrupt. To improve, try to expand on your points with more personal detail or specific examples to fully develop the response, ensuring the tone remains consistently appropriate for a letter to a friend.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the recommendation to the drawbacks and finally to your availability. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', 'Firstly', and 'Conversely' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or are used incorrectly, such as 'In tandem with this' and 'Conversely', which do not fit the context of your argument perfectly. Paragraphing is also missing; the entire body of the letter is contained in a single block, which makes it harder to follow. Using clear paragraph breaks for each main point would significantly improve the structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several issues with word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'get full crowded' and 'click pictures' are slightly unnatural. There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'Unfortunatly' and 'pardesh'. While your meaning is always clear, the vocabulary is somewhat basic and lacks the precision or variety expected at higher bands. To improve, focus on learning common collocations (e.g., 'take photos' instead of 'click pictures') and ensure you are using adverbs and adjectives that sound natural in a friendly, informal context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

Your writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'I believed you would enjoy your in Triund' (incorrect pronoun usage), 'one of best camping place' (missing article and pluralization), and 'you should must bring' (double modal). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to limit your score. Focus on proofreading for basic errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms to improve your accuracy.
