Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Lida,
Hope you are doing good.
I receiveid you mail and feeling happy about your holiday plan and spending three days in North Beach camping area.
It would like to appriciate on your choice and provide gurantee, you will enjoy there during summer. I have been visted and camped there last summer along with my school friends, these were sunny days but temprature was very good, it was little cold breezing which gaves immense pleasure to your skin.
During my stay, i face some problems which i would like to share with you, there was less amount of toilets which were not sufficient during peak season, additionally there was lake of proper lights at night time which could be dangerous at night in country side due to wild animals. May i would not visit the camping site again till they build more number of toilets and have propper lighting system.
I would suggest you to relook into you decision of visting North Beach camping area and choose city side.
Thanks and Regards,
Lisa

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and stating your intention regarding joining them. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the weather as a positive, the explanation is brief. Furthermore, your conclusion is slightly contradictory; you initially suggest you would enjoy it, but then advise your friend to avoid the location entirely. To reach a higher band, ensure your ideas are more fully extended and that your position remains consistent throughout the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'additionally' and 'during my stay'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is slightly abrupt. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the positive aspects and the negative ones could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several spelling errors that detract from the quality of your writing, such as 'receiveid', 'appriciate', 'gurantee', 'visted', 'temprature', and 'propper'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. While you attempt to use descriptive language like 'immense pleasure', the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common words and try to incorporate more precise collocations to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I have been visted' (incorrect tense), 'there was lake of proper lights' (incorrect word choice/article usage), and 'May i would not visit' (incorrect modal usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas where full stops or conjunctions would be more appropriate. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently and demonstrate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence construction.
