Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Dharmvir,
Hope this letter finds you in radiant health and positive energy! I am also doing great. I am writing this letter to suggest about about your first camping holiday.
Camping is really a unique event which everyone should experienced once in a while. Triund is very famous hill station in India for camping. At this location, you can enjoy stargazing, experience first sunrise of India and breathtaking sunset. As far as I know you, you are a nature lover and have a great interest in cosmology and this place will provide you thrill of northern lights at night on the summit of mountains. This will give you cold vibes in the summers.
However, there are some negative aspects of camping as many essentials such as food, clothes and are required to spend time in a tent. Moreover, a healthy body is needed to reach at the top after a large tracking. In addition, Mosquitos and insects are also there, which can be infectious.
You will be glad after knowing that I am also ready to experience the same summer camp with you to spend quality time with you in order to make good memories which we will cherish in the future.
Waiting for your reply and see you soon.
Yours lovingly,
Navpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You explained why your friend would enjoy camping by highlighting the natural beauty of Triund, identified relevant disadvantages such as the need for supplies and physical fitness, and clearly stated your intention to join the trip. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could elaborate on how the 'cold vibes' contrast with the summer heat to provide a more vivid picture of the experience.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'However' to link your ideas. While the flow is generally good, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the progression between sentences feels more natural. For example, the transition between the benefits of camping and the disadvantages could be smoothed out to better reflect the shift in tone.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, such as 'radiant health', 'stargazing', and 'breathtaking'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'suggest about about' is redundant and grammatically incorrect, and 'large tracking' should be 'long trek'. Additionally, 'unique event' is not the most natural collocation for a holiday. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on more precise collocations will help elevate your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'everyone should experienced' (should experience), 'very famous hill station' (a very famous hill station), and 'Mosquitos and insects are also there' (which is slightly informal/clunky). Punctuation is generally fine, but some articles are missing. While these errors are noticeable, they do not cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles when describing specific locations or activities.
